Northbrook Park Wedding Photography – It was lovely to be back at Northbrook Park for Harriet and Ricky’s wedding in October. They’d already had a small legal ceremony on a scorching summer’s day, so this was their chance to celebrate properly with wider family and friends, with a beautiful Indian wedding reflecting Ricky’s heritage. And what a brilliant day it was!
Northbrook Park is a gorgeous wedding venue in Farnham, Hampshire, close to the Surrey border. Set in the countryside, it combines elegant historic buildings with beautiful gardens and plenty of space to celebrate, making it a lovely setting for a wedding. Oh and there are resident peacocks who roam about.
Harriet and Ricky decided to do things a little differently and switch around the usual order of the day. We started with their first look and couple photos, followed by family photographs before the ceremony. It worked brilliantly, leaving them free to spend much more time with their guests once everyone arrived, without having to disappear for photos later on.
They also picked and chose the traditions that meant the most to them, making the day feel completely their own. One of the highlights was Ricky’s spectacular entrance on horseback, accompanied by flares, Dhol drummers and plenty of dancing. It was quite an entrance, such energy and joy!
For the ceremony, they opted for something much simpler: a civil ceremony conducted by Ricky’s lovely dad. It was a really personal moment in the middle of such a lively day.
Afterwards, the Dhol drummers led the couple and their guests through to the drinks reception in the gardens, where the October sunshine made a welcome appearance. Everyone was in great spirits, and it was lovely to see Harriet and Ricky enjoying every minute with their friends and family.
Then came the delicious Indian food, followed by even more dancing. There was a brilliant atmosphere all day, with lots of laughter, happy guests and a couple who clearly loved every second of their celebrations. Harriet and Ricky were such good fun to photograph, and their wedding was a great reminder that you don’t have to follow a set formula to have an amazing day. Do what works for you, include the traditions that matter to you, and make time to enjoy it all.
It was also fab to work with my favourite videographers, W4 Wedding Films, who captured all the action on film.
