Tythe Barn wedding photography – Jen and Dan held their beautiful wedding at the Tythe Barn near Bicester and it was gorgeous! Jen is American, Dan is English, and they had friends and family together from both sides of the Atlantic to celebrate with them.
Tythe is a really pretty place for a wedding. It’s set in the Oxfordshire countryside at Launton, with a collection of beautifully restored old barns, the farmhouse, pretty gardens and lots of lovely little corners to photograph in. The main thatched barn dates back to the 14th century (or so says the interweb!), so there’s a lot of character, plus the whole place has been decorated in an really stylish way.
We were really lucky with the weather. It was mild and dry, so Jen and Dan were able to have their ceremony outside. They chose a pretty spot near the farmhouse rather than the more usual ceremony area by the barn. It was a gorgeous setting and it made the ceremony feel really relaxed and personal.
They wanted their photographs to be natural and not too posey, which suited them (and me!) perfectly. We took some relaxed couple portraits around the gardens during the drinks reception, and also popped out for a few fun evening ones in the farmhouse after the meal (I even managed to persuade Jen to pop in the beautiful free standing bath!).
I really enjoyed the wedding, partly because the guests were particularly lovely. Everyone was so friendly and happy to be there, and there was a really warm atmosphere throughout the whole day. With Jen and Dan bringing people together from the US and England, it was lovely seeing everyone chatting, laughing and generally having a brilliant time together.
The evening party was amazing! I’d photographed a wedding where the band (Turning Pages) had performed earlier in the season and loved them, so I was very happy to see them on the line-up again. They have a bit of a pop-punk feel and loads of energy, and they were so much fun. The dance floor was packed and there was some seriously good dancing going on, which made for some brilliant photographs.
I loved being part of this lovely Oxfordshire wedding. A gorgeous setting, lovely couple, a beautiful outdoor ceremony, and a packed dance floor – a pretty great combination!
