Micklefield Hall Wedding Photography – I’m having an amazing run of weddings at Micklefield Hall at the moment and I’m not complaining for one second! It’s one of my favourite wedding venues to photograph, so I’m always very happy to be heading back there.
Gaby and Ben’s Micklefield Hall wedding was another beautiful sunny day, but thankfully there was a lovely breeze too, making it warm and very pleasant. Gaby and Ben are absolutely stunning, incredibly fun and such a lovely couple to spend the day with. They have a lots of very close friends who were a delight too.
There was so much personality woven through their wedding, particularly in the way they brought together their different family backgrounds and heritage. Their wedding ceremony took place outside beside the pond under a beautiful huppah. The setting was gorgeous, with the pond and temple providing the perfect backdrop ceremony. There were lots of lovely Jewish traditions throughout the ceremony, including the smashing of the glass, and the ceremony was accompanied by beautiful singing from Uri Gold.
I particularly loved the way Ben’s Ghanaian heritage was incorporated too. The huppah was made using beautiful Ghanaian print fabric, which was also used for details including the ties. It was such a lovely way of bringing their two backgrounds together and making the ceremony feel really personal to them.
After drinks on the lawn in the sunshine and a few photos it was time to head into the barn for the wedding breakfast…but before food it was time for Israeli dancing! It was amazing. There was so much energy and enthusiasm on the dancefloor, with everyone properly getting involved. It made for some brilliant photographs and was exactly the sort of joyful, slightly chaotic dancing that I love photographing at weddings.
As a Micklefield Hall wedding photographer, I’m very lucky that I get to photograph so many weddings here (they kindly recommend me highly). It’s a venue that gives you loads of variety without needing to spend the whole day disappearing off for photographs. There are the rose garden, the lawn, the temple and plenty of lovely little spots for portraits, so you can get a great mix of natural, relaxed photographs and something a little more editorial too.
Gaby and Ben were brilliant in front of the camera (even though Ben doesn’t particularly enjoy it!). After dinner we took a little time for some portraits around the grounds, making the most of the warm sunshine and the beautiful setting, before getting back to their guests and the party.
It was lovely to work alongside Tim Spatz again. He’s one of my favourite videographers to shoot weddings alongside, and it’s always a pleasure when we find ourselves at the same wedding. The rest of the supplier team were fantastic too. Kalm Kitchen looked after the catering beautifully as ever, Blue Lion Band kept the party going, and the flowers from friend of the couple Flora Partner were stunning.
Gaby and Ben’s wedding was a brilliant celebration of their families, their different backgrounds and, most importantly, them. There was colour, music, tradition, incredible dancing, lots of laughter and a very happy couple at the centre of it all. Huge congratulations again guys, thanks for everything!
