Hertfordshire Wedding Photographer – I always love photographing weddings at Micklefield Hall, so I was really pleased to be back there for Sarah and Alex’s big day. It’s one of my favourite venues for so many reasons. The gardens are beautiful in every season, the team are brilliant, everything runs so smoothly, and there are so many lovely spots for photos without ever needing to disappear for ages. It always feels relaxed, which makes such a difference to everyone.
Sarah and Alex are such a lovely couple and it was a total pleasure to spend the day with them. They also have a gorgeous young daughter who was such a sweet part of the celebrations and made so many of the family moments even more special.
The weather was warm, but thankfully not quite as scorching as some of the recent weddings I’d photographed. Their ceremony took place beside the pond, which is one of my favourite ceremony locations. It’s a really peaceful setting, surrounded by trees and greenery, and always makes for beautiful photographs.
After everyone had congratulated the newlyweds and liberally thrown confetti at them, guests headed onto the lawn for drinks, where there was a round of crazy golf to keep everyone entertained. It was such a good addition to the drinks reception. It added lots of laughter, a bit of healthy competition and plenty of opportunities for me to capture natural moments. We also had lots of fun during the group photos – scroll down to see Sarah and Alex both being hurled into the air by the groomsmen!
As always at Micklefield Hall, we made the most of the gardens for a relaxed wander with Sarah and Alex. They were so easy to photograph together and gave me so many genuine smiles without needing much direction at all.
There was an unusual addition to the evening plans too. England’s European Championship semi-final against Argentina kicked off at 8pm, so a television had been set up on the dance floor so guests could keep an eye on the match. Sadly England didn’t make it through, but spirits stayed high regardless. There was lots of flag waving, plenty of England songs while everyone was still hopeful, and then everyone quickly switched back into full wedding party mode.
One of my favourite moments came after the wedding breakfast when Sarah swapped her wedding dress for the most amazing short party dress. I absolutely love it when brides do this. She looked incredible, was completely ready for the dance floor, and it gave the evening a completely different energy.
Sarah and Alex’s wedding was such a fun day from start to finish. Relaxed, full of happy people, lots of laughter, and a brilliant party to finish. Thank you both so much for asking me to capture it all. It was an absolute pleasure.
