Indian Wedding Photography – Some weddings are so much fun that you wish they could last longer…and this one actually did! Nush & Deva celebrated over two beautiful days at Micklefield Hall, with a traditional English wedding followed by a vibrant Indian wedding the next day. They are a really lovely, friendly couple and it was such a pleasure to capture their wedding weekend for them.
I’ve photographed quite a few weddings at Micklefield Hall over the years, including several Indian weddings, and it’s a venue I always love returning to. Tucked away in the Hertfordshire countryside, it feels simultaneously elegant and relaxed. The gardens are gorgeous, there are so many lovely spots for photos without having to walk miles, and the team always keep everything running so smoothly.
Day One – A Traditional English Wedding
The celebrations began with a beautiful outdoor ceremony beside the lake. It really doesn’t get much better than exchanging vows with that backdrop, especially such a glorious sunny day.
After the ceremony everyone enjoyed drinks outside before heading into the barn for a delicious wedding breakfast. There were some brilliant speeches, plenty of laughter and, once the formalities were over, everyone headed onto the dance floor. It was really fun saying goodbye to everyone and knowing that we would all be back the following morning to do it all again!
Day Two – A Beautiful Indian Wedding
The second day started bright and early with breakfast before the celebrations really got underway. One of my favourite moments of any Indian wedding photography coverage is the groom’s procession, and this one certainly didn’t disappoint. The atmosphere was fantastic from the very beginning, with so much energy, colour and excitement.
The ceremony itself took place outside beneath a beautifully decorated mandap on the lawn. The heatwave was still going strong, but thankfully lots of umbrellas were to hand to give guests some welcome shade, which worked brilliantly and meant everyone could still enjoy the outdoor ceremony in comfort.
After the ceremony we made the most of the mandap for family photos before everyone headed back into the barn for an incredible feast (thank you Ragasaan!). The celebrations continued outside afterwards with garden games in the sunshine and a lovely relaxed atmosphere before everyone headed home during the afternoon.
Two Wonderful Days
I genuinely loved being part of this wedding weekend. Having the chance to photograph two completely different celebrations for the same couple was such a privilege. From the elegant English ceremony by the lake to the colourful traditions of the Indian wedding, every part of the weekend reflected the happy couple perfectly.
As someone who has photographed several celebrations here over the years, including lots of Indian wedding photography at Micklefield Hall, it’s always a venue I look forward to visiting. It works so well for multi-day weddings, giving couples plenty of space to celebrate while still feeling intimate and welcoming.
