Micklefield Hall wedding photography – Amy and Hugo’s wedding at Micklefield Hall was a really special one for lots of reasons, not least because Hugo is the youngest son of the family who run Micklefield Hall. In fact, he was born on the very day that Micklefield hosted its first wedding! So it was lovely to be back there to photograph his own wedding, and such a happy day for both families.
The morning started with Hugo heading off to play cricket with his mates on the lovely cricket pitch in Chipperfield, right next to St Paul’s Church, where the ceremony was taking place. Meanwhile, Amy was getting ready at a pretty Airbnb just down the road. It was a lovely way to start the day (and best not to talk about the final cricket score!).
I’ve photographed lots of lovely weddings at St Paul’s over the years, and it was great to be back. Amy and Hugo grinned their way through the ceremony, and it was pretty clear how happy they were to finally be getting married. Their much-loved dog, Lochie, was there to join them as they walked back down the aisle, which made it even more special.
After the ceremony, there was confetti, a guard of honour and then a brilliant departure in Hugo’s brother’s Cobra (car, not snake). It’s a pretty spectacular car, so naturally we made the most of it when we got back to Micklefield Hall, taking some couple portraits with it around the grounds.
Then it was time for drinks and canapés, catching up with family and friends and enjoying the beautiful surroundings at Micklefield. If you’ve not been before, Micklefield Hall is a gorgeous exclusive-use wedding venue near Rickmansworth, with lovely grounds and loads of character. Having photographed so many weddings there, it’s always a pleasure to be back, and it was particularly lovely to see the family celebrating such an important day.
The guests sat down to a delicious wedding breakfast before the party got going properly. Amy and Hugo have a huge gang of family and friends who absolutely adore them, and there was a brilliant atmosphere throughout the day. Once the dancing started, the celebrations carried on in exactly the way you’d hope for a wedding like this.
Amy and Hugo are the sweetest couple. They’re completely head over heels in love, and it was lovely to see just how much they mean to everyone around them. There was so much happiness, so many smiles and lots of people who were absolutely thrilled to be there celebrating with them. I felt very honoured to be there to capture the day for them.
