Gate Street Barn Wedding Photography – Oh what a day this was! Sarah and Jon tied the knot at the ever-gorgeous Gate Street Barn, tucked away in the Surrey Hills near Bramley. I photographed my very first wedding at Gate Street 16 years ago and it’s still one of my absolute favourite venues. The barn is beautiful inside and out, with countryside views, pretty gardens, and the loveliest team running the show. Annabel and her team looked after everyone so well – they’re brilliant at what they do.
We were lucky with the weather too – a dry, mild day that meant guests could happily enjoy drinks and chat outside before heading in for the wedding breakfast. Sarah had done such an incredible job organising everything. There were so many thoughtful touches dotted throughout the day that reflected the things they love – I particularly enjoyed the Lego figures carrying the rings, such a fun and personal detail! Oh and they nearly cut their wedding cake with a lightsabre, which made everyone laugh!
But the real showstoppers were Jon’s centrepieces. Jon is a professional prop maker (yes, the proper Hollywood blockbuster kind!), and he created the most jaw-dropping film-themed displays for each table. I’ll admit, when Sarah and Jon first asked me to capture guests’ “wow” reactions, I was a tiny bit sceptical – but when those centrepieces were revealed, the wows were totally justified. They were properly stunning and completely unique – you’ll see in the photos just how special they were.
It was also a joy to see Gill Pike’s gorgeous floral work again (and get an excellent Gill hug). We’ve crossed paths at Gate Street Barn many times over the years and her flowers never disappoint. The food from Thyme & Lime was absolutely delicious, with the warmest, friendliest staff keeping everyone happy. Add in fabulous music from The Wildermen and you’ve got the perfect recipe for a wedding that was full of love, laughter and just the right amount of geeky brilliance.
