I was back at the beautiful Micklefield Hall at the weekend (lucky me – it’s one of my favourite venues and I’m very proud to be a recommended photographer there!). This time it was for Lulu and Hunter’s gorgeous spring wedding. It was one of those gloriously sunny English days where everything feels extra magical – and I don’t think they could’ve asked for a better setting.
Micklefield Hall is in Hertfordshire, not far from Rickmansworth, and it’s an exclusive-use venue which means you get the whole place to yourself – always a lovely treat for a wedding. The grounds were looking stunning with all the spring flowers out, and the sunshine really showed everything off beautifully.
Lulu is English, and Hunter is American, so there was a brilliant mix of guests – lots of lovely Americans had flown over to celebrate with them, and it was such a fun crowd! Their adorable daughter was also there, stealing hearts left, right and centre (and making for some very cute photos…which I’m not sharing online so you’ll just have to take my word for it!).
The whole day had a really relaxed and joyful vibe – just how I like it. The ceremony took place outside by the pond, under the shade of the beautiful old oak tree. It’s always such a romantic spot, and with the blossom in the background and the sunshine twinkling off the water, it looked like something out of a movie.
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed drinks and garden games on the lawn – there was loads of laughter and chatting (and a bit of competitive bean bag throwing!). One of my favourite parts of the day was the meal – not just because the food smelled amazing, but because of the fabulous show band, meaning there was lots of dancing between courses! Such a fun idea and it really kept the energy up.
As the sun started to set, I whisked Lulu and Hunter away for a few golden hour couple portraits. Then it was back to the Great Barn for more dancing and celebrating into the night.
