Hertfordshire Wedding Photographer – What a beautiful wedding! Lu and Tim were supposed to get married last year but, like a lot of people, unfortunately had to move their wedding to this year because of covid. It was absolutely worth the wait! They held it at Micklefield Hall, a stunning country house wedding venue in Hertfordshire (near Rickmansworth).
I loved the atmosphere of the day. It was super relaxed, focussed entirely on celebrating the love of the two grooms. Lu and Tim got ready together before their ceremony. The ceremony was indoors in the wedding barn and the grooms walked down the aisle individually, each escorted by a beautiful flower girl.
Despite it being October, the weather turned out beautifully, meaning we could head outside after the ceremony for some confetti and photographs. I love working at Micklefield Hall (which is a good thing as I think this was my 9th or 10th Micklefield Hall wedding this season!) – there are so many beautiful spot for photographs. We headed to the pond for some couple portraits, and whizzed through a nice short list of group photographs there too.
The wedding breakfast was amazing – the caterers are Kalm Kitchen and their food is always exquisite (in both flavour and appearance). The meal was followed by the speeches (which are one of my favourite opportunities for candid photographs as people react to the speeches) which were brilliant.
When I thought the day couldn’t get any better, Lu and Tim wowed the crowd with the most incredible choreographed first dance. It was amazing!
A couple of other shout outs – the stunning flowers were by the charming and talented Andrew Fleming, and the cake was by Emily Jane cakes. I’ve worked as a wedding photographer for 12 years and after a few early experiences with bad wedding cake (beautiful looking but dense and underwhelming flavour-wise) I generally avoid eating wedding cake. Or should I say, avoided. Lu kindly said I could have some cake….so I did (I didn’t want to be rude)….and it was INCREDIBLE!!! And I have now had wedding cake at every wedding since this wedding, so I basically have Emily to blame for the fact that my work trousers are going to stop fitting soon!
