Becki & Kai’s English-Chinese wedding extravaganza!
Becki & Kai got married at the very gorgeous Milsoms Kesgrave Hall near Ipswich. This is a little further away from my home in Surrey than I normally venture, but I’d photographed the wedding of one of Kai’s sisters a few years ago and it was incredible, so I jumped at the chance to photograph another family wedding! Boy, am I happy I did! It’s always lovely to do a second wedding for a family, and to see a few familiar faces, but this felt particularly special – Kai’s family are so warm and friendly, I felt like a returning member of the family. And Becki’s family are equally warm and lovely (and so proud of their beautiful daughter!) so thank you everyone for making me feel so welcome!
Their wedding combined elements of both Chinese and English culture. There were two bridal outfits, 3 ceremonies and a whole load of laughing! The day started with wedding door games, which were hysterical (although I felt slightly sorry for Kai’s poor usher who had to be waxed as a punishment for Kai failing a Mr and Mrs question!). Luckily Kai did adequately demonstrate his suitability as a groom so he was allowed by the bridesmaids to see his stunning bride! There was then a traditional tea ceremony, followed by a quick civil ceremony to get the legalities sorted. After that followed an outfit change (hooray – I love a wedding with multiple outfits!) then a big beautiful outdoor wedding ceremony (thank you sunny September!) in front of stunning floral “non arch arch” by Amnesia florist. Other highlights include raucous table toasting and a beautifully spot lit first dance.
Huge congratulations Becki & Kai! Looking forward to the next family wedding (hint hint girls!).
