Storm Amy certainly tried her best to make life difficult for Charlotte and Tom’s wedding a couple of weeks ago, but she didn’t stand a chance! Despite the forecast of torrential rain and wild winds, we got incredibly lucky. Charlotte arrived at Leatherhead Registry Office in the dry. We even managed to squeeze in a confetti moment outside after the ceremony. A little drizzle never hurt anyone!
Charlotte looked absolutely gorgeous, walking down the aisle on the arms of both her dad and her stepdad – such a lovely moment. After the ceremony, everyone headed back to the bride’s family home for the reception, held in a beautiful marquee in the garden. The wind may have been strong enough to get the glitter ball swinging (!), but no one cared – the atmosphere was far too joyful.
The food was cooked by Guy, a talented family friend (and the nicest chef I’ve met!) and was totally delicious. Everything about the day just felt full of love and laughter. Some couples might have been stressed by the stormy weather, but Charlotte and Tom were an absolute dream – relaxed, happy, and just totally focused on having the best time with their favourite people.
It was also such a treat for me because I knew lots of the wonderful suppliers involved. I loved catching up with Chris from Chess Disco (always guaranteed to get the dancefloor going!), and the flowers by the lovely Gill Pike were completely stunning. And a personal highlight — seeing Tom’s mum again! We worked together on and off for years when she ran a wedding catering company, so it was really special to be part of her son’s big day.
