Hertfordshire wedding photographer – Lizzie and Ben’s wedding was such a treat – not just because they’re a wonderful couple, but also because it took place in the most gorgeous setting with lots of personal history woven in. They tied the knot at Lizzie’s old school in Berkhamsted, where she studied for sixth form. Berkhamsted School dates back to 1541 (during the reign of Henry VIII!), so there’s centuries of history behind those beautiful old buildings – quite something to get married somewhere with such a story! The whole day had such a relaxed, intimate vibe, and it couldn’t have suited them better.
The ceremony itself was in the school’s stunning chapel – such a beautiful spot, full of character and atmosphere. After a joyful ‘I do’, everyone spilled out onto the lawn for confetti and drinks in the sunshine, which was as lovely as it sounds.
The wedding breakfast was in one of the school’s grand, wood-panelled rooms, watched over by an impressive collection of oil paintings of former headmasters! The setting felt very special, and the food – cooked by the school – was absolutely incredible. Definitely a cut above the school dinners I remember from my own school days!
The whole celebration was wonderfully low-key and relaxed, exactly what Lizzie and Ben wanted. I stayed right through the evening and the dance floor was buzzing – honestly some of the most enthusiastic and joyful dancing I’ve ever seen at a wedding. The day finished with a magical sparkler send-off for the happy couple – the perfect ending to such a brilliant celebration.
