Wandsworth wedding photographer – Wow, what an absolute corker of a wedding to kick off the 2016 wedding season. I live in Wandsworth, so it was delightful to photograph a local wedding that I could walk to. I didn’t actually walk, but nice knowing that I could have (and at least I didn’t have to use my sat nav for once!). When Rebecca contacted me about photographing the big day she told me that it wasn’t a big, lavish affair and it wouldn’t be very ‘bloggable’…well, I don’t like to tell my clients that they are wrong, but I think a quick glance at the photographs will show quite how brilliantly wrong she was. Rebecca and Dan have got two gorgeous children, and the whole wedding (including the 4 of them) totaled 16 people – and it was perfect.
As we’re local to each other, I see Rebecca most days on the school run, so I knew she’d be a beautiful bride…but oh my goodness, I wasn’t prepared for quite how stunning she looked! I joined her and the kids, and her parents at her house as they all got ready for the big event, which was a lot of fun. The triumph of the morning was William being persuaded to wear his gorgeous wedding outfit, rather than his preferred fireman costume (although that would have been quite sweet). Rebecca slipped into her backless Pronovias gown and I’m not ashamed to admit to shedding a tear or two when I saw the finished look – wow.
Surrounded by their family (literally – the wedding was held ‘in the round’ because of it’s petite nature), Rebecca and Dan married in St Anne’s church, Wandsworth. St Anne’s (‘the pepperpot church’) is their local family church – it’s about 53 steps from their front door (no need for a wedding car), and is where their children (and mine!) have attended playgroup. The service was intimate and personal, with some corking singing from a wonderful choir (I didn’t catch their name, sorry). The newlyweds emerged into the sunshine (ok, I’m making that bit up – but it wasn’t raining despite the atrocious weather forecast, so that’s great weather in my book) to see a gaggle of local friends desperate to catch a glimpse of the happy couple….I could hear their gasps as the saw quite how radiant Rebecca looked. After a few photographs on the steps of the church we drove off to Chez Bruce (regularly voted once of the best restaurants in the country) for a wedding banquet. I stayed for a few photographs on Wandsworth Common, then to capture reactions to a few informal speeches. I then left this gorgeous family to enjoy their Michelin starred meal whilst I drove home for a bovril sandwich. Oh, it’s a hard job sometimes 😉
Rebecca and Dan – congratulations on a perfect day. I hope you love your photographs as much as I do.
Love Sarah xx
